The new #MyBelmontChair winner!

Between June and September 2017 dental practices up and down the country shared their love of Belmont Dental chairs taking pride of place in their surgeries as part of the latest #MyBelmontChair campaign – Who’s Smiling in #MyBelmontChair?

Centred around the important role of colour within the modern dental practice, and in relation to the patient experience, the Who’s Smiling in #MyBelmontChair? campaign celebrated the comfort and functionality of colourful Belmont chairs and treatment centres.

By simply uploading a picture to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram of a smiling patient in their Belmont chair, along with a reason for the smile and using the hashtag #MyBelmontChair, entrants were inspired by the chance to win top prizes and the response was amazing. From smiling children to popular Toy Story characters and enthusiastic hygienists in Belmont chairs, it’s clear to see how their comfort can brighten any treatment process.

With such a high standard of entries, it was down to the public to vote from the top five entries using emoji symbols on Facebook. It was a close call, but after over 550 votes, congratulations go to Nicholas from Hampton Wick Dental Centre in Kingston-upon-Thames, who with over 270 of the votes is delighted to have won £250 in High Street vouchers and has promised to share them with the dental team.

The Hampton Wick Dental Centre commented:“Thank you, Belmont Dental UK! We officially have the best chairs in the UK! Thank you to all the families and friends of HWDC in the UK and abroad for all your support and votes. You have made little Nicholas and HWDC very proud. Runner-up Principal Dentist Dr Sarveen Mann from The Fulham Dentist was delighted to win £150 in entertainment vouchers. She said: “Oh my! Thank you so very much! I wasn’t expecting that! Have prepared my congratulations speech to the winners and will post it once you announce them. Thank you again … will treat my staff.” (Instagram)

Belmont equipment advice after lockdown

You might be wondering what you should do with your treatment centre before re-opening your practice or is there any protocol that you should be following. We are sharing with you 8 Simple Steps on how to protect your dental equipment when leaving unused for long periods. Please read carefully prior to taking any action.

Follow your normal waterline maintenance protocol in accordance with CQC guidelines until complete shutdown.
If complete shutdown for an unspecified period of time is imminent take off the clean water bottle and tip any residue water away and put the bottle back on empty. After removing the couplings and handpieces from the delivery system hold the hoses over a bucket and press the flush button or run the automatic flush if your unit has one. It’s important remembering while flushing to press the syringe buttons in order to release any trapped water and continue to run the flush until the handpiece hoses run dry.
Do not forget to clean your suction hoses and spittoon with your recommended suction cleaner. Then run water through the hoses to make sure any residue left in the hoses is diluted down.
Make sure the suction pump is switched on before cleaning the hoses.
When the system is completely dry and the suction hoses cleaned switch the main chair switch off and any chair isolator in the room “turn off”.
If all the treatment centres in the practice are to be shutdown for a period of time make sure the staff turn off the compressor and the suction pump.
If you are concerned about shutting down your equipment call your equipment dealer to help you run through this process safely. They will always be happy to help and advise at this difficult time.
When the time comes to return the dental treatment centre back to full use, please be aware that you will need to test your waterlines as per your normal CQC protocol. This action is essential part of the process as you want to check that you don’t have any biofilm build-up during the period of stagnation.
